Windsurf y Bay of Palma llevan décadas dándose la mano. Mallorca has deep windsurfing tradition, and Can Pastilla is one of its most established spots: flat water, steady Embat sea breeze in the afternoons and Mediterranean temperatures for sailing almost all year round.

At El Niño Surf Center our windsurf gear is mostly beginner-level: high-volume, stable and easy-to-handle boards, ideal for getting started or getting back into the sport. We do not carry advanced or high-performance equipment.

Starboard and Mistral gear — two global windsurf references for decades. High-volume beginner boards that are stable and easy to learn on. Our gear is beginner-oriented: we do not carry high-performance boards or sails for advanced riders. Sails in a range of sizes for the different wind strengths.

How we teach

La progresión clásica del windsurf, adaptada a la realidad de la Bay of Palma:

Land simulator: vocabulary, sail handling, basic positions.

First runs: board with daggerboard, leave and return to the launch point.

Jibes and tacks: controlled changes of tack.

Planing and harness intro: smaller sails, higher speed.

Footstraps and advanced manoeuvres: depending on the student’s interest.

We know the Can Pastilla spot inside out. We know when to head out, what sail to pick and where the best learning area is for the day’s conditions.

Repair and maintenance

Professional repair of your windsurf gear:

Ding repair on boards (dings, cracks, damaged tracks).

Sail repair: stitching, reinforcements, monofilm replacement.

Harnesses: strap, buckle and reinforcement checks.

Masts, booms and bases: inspection and part replacement.

Typical turnaround: 48-72 h in high season.

Frequently asked questions about windsurf in Mallorca

Is Can Pastilla a good spot to learn windsurfing?

Es uno de los mejores del Mediterráneo. Flat water, steady thermal afternoon wind (Embat sea breeze) and direct, unobstructed launch into the sea. Perfecto para iniciación.

Can I rent without knowing how to windsurf?

No. Rental is reserved for people with some autonomy. If you don’t have the level, start with our courses.

When is the best season?

From May to October the Embat sea breeze blows almost every afternoon. There is wind in winter too, though more variable.

What do I need to bring?

Swimsuit, towel and sunscreen. The wetsuit is included in the course. If you have your own harness, bring it.

Minimum age for the courses?

From 8-9 years old with enough weight (25 kg+) and swimming ability. We match the gear to the student.

Do you do groups for companies or stag/hen parties?

Yes — we organise windsurf activities for groups with gear transport to the beach or bay of your choice. Check our Groups page.
